Here is an example of the way the magic system works in Shattered Veil.

The Gashadokuro is described as an army of thousands of skeletons having been resuscitated from among the dead. Formed from piles of bones belonging to people having died from famine or on the battlefield, this creature only comes to live if the dead have not been buried.

Having an avatar that you can look down and view really helps with immersion in an RPG.  If you pick up some cool gauntlets (or in this case - cloth wraps) you wan to see it!
